How to Wear & Care for Concealable Body Armor

How to Wear Bulletproof Jackets

Learn how to properly wear and care for your Innocent Armor® gear. Designed for everyday wear — built to perform under real-world conditions.

  • Ensure ballistic panels are properly positioned inside the jacket before wearing
  • Align the overlapping front panels so they sit flat and centered across your torso
  • Insert the zipper tab fully and zip the jacket smoothly from bottom to top
  • If resistance is felt, guide the zipper base with one hand while pulling with the other to prevent misalignment
  • Always zip the jacket fully to maintain proper coverage across vital areas
  • After putting on, adjust the jacket so it sits naturally and comfortably on your body

FitTec® technology is designed for a tailored fit and may require a short break-in period to achieve optimal comfort.

How to Wear Bulletproof T-Shirts

Built for discreet protection without changing how you dress or move throughout your day.

  • Fully unzip both side zippers before putting on the shirt
  • Pull the shirt over your head as you would a normal T-shirt
  • Align the front and back panels so they sit flat against your body
  • Starting on one side, hold the fabric near the zipper base and zip downward smoothly
  • Repeat on the opposite side, ensuring both zippers are fully secured
  • Make small adjustments so the panels sit evenly and comfortably across your torso

Proper alignment ensures consistent overlap protection while maintaining a natural, low-profile fit.

How to Wear a Concealable Bulletproof Vest

Designed for traditional concealable vests with adjustable straps worn discreetly under clothing.

  • Fully loosen all shoulder and side straps before putting on the vest
  • Place the vest over your head, ensuring the front panel is positioned correctly on your chest
  • Adjust the shoulder straps to set the proper height of the front and rear panels
  • Secure one side strap first, then the other, ensuring even tension on both sides
  • Adjust for a snug but comfortable fit — the vest should feel secure without restricting breathing
  • When standing, position the bottom of the vest approximately 2 inches above your belt line
  • Sit down and check comfort — the vest should not ride up toward the throat
  • Make final adjustments as needed to maintain proper positioning and comfort throughout movement

Proper adjustment ensures full coverage of vital areas while maintaining comfort for extended daily wear.

Yes. All ballistic panels are certified at NIJ-certified laboratories and tested to meet NIJ Level IIIA standards.

In addition to formal NIJ testing, we have over 34 independent field tests conducted by former law enforcement, military personnel, and industry professionals. These real-world tests include handgun impacts, angle shots, movement scenarios, and durability assessments — all publicly available for transparency.

Our soft armor is NIJ Level IIIA certified, the highest protection rating for soft body armor. Level IIIA is tested to stop most handgun rounds, including high-velocity threats such as:

    •    9mm

    •    .357 Magnum

    •    .357 SIG

    •    .44 Magnum

Additional details:

    •    Level IIIA is the same protection level commonly used by law enforcement.

    •    It is designed for concealable, everyday-wear armor.

    •    Soft armor does not stop rifle fire.

For rifle protection, a hard armor plate (Level III or Level IV) is required.

Body armor sales cannot be shipped to residents of:

    •    New York

    •    Connecticut

We also cannot ship internationally unless the customer meets all export regulations.

If you are an international customer, please email us before placing an order.

All ballistic panels include a 5–8 year warranty from the manufacturing date.
